Just posting a short, fun video we made during the summer. Calum Mccune brings you a new parkour move, cleverly named (by him) "The Castrator". Enjoy!

Dundee Fall '09 Parkour Jam Video

Yes! It is finally edited and uploaded!

Enjoy this footage of the Dundee Parkour Jam, edited to music from Jedi Mind Tricks! Sadly, I wasn't filming the whole day, so some parts are left out, but the Street Devils are going to release a big video of all of the jams this fall, in the near future!

Gym and Film Project Updates

Hey everyone,

Just a quick post to bring you up to speed on what's going on in DUPK and Team Kouro / Kouro Media at the moment..

Seeing as it gets very cold and dark early in the days, we are switching out schedule around a bit..

Thursdays: Gym sessions at 3pm, might get changed to 4pm depending on attendance.
Saturdays: PK is still on at 1pm in town, unless I say otherwise on the forum during the week. This Saturday (Nov 21st), we are having a gym session from 12-1pm before going outside to do some filming.

In regards to the film projects, Team Kouro (stunt team I started), is practicing a lot for falls and other stunts that we will do in the future. My script is in production at the moment, I still have to write the dialogue, but the filming is already in pre-production with a (hopefully) launch date in mid-spring. This saturday we will be filming some moves we've been practing, to include in our showreels, and we are also filming a short film that Andrew (ASK) has come up with, to practice our filming, editing, and stage-fighting techniques. Expect that to be up in a week or so!

If you have any questions, email us at dundeepk@gmail.com or better yet, go to our forum!! It's at: http://dundeepk.proboards.com

Team Kouro launches Kouro Media (press release and IMPORTANT info for everyone!! must read!!

Hey everyone,

This will be a very important post in the "evolution" of DUPK and Team Kouro. Team Kouro is a tricking/stunt team started up in early 2008, and now we've launched a new branch which is called Kouro Media. This is the official "release" and we're hoping to publish it in a future press release, once we get a bit more projects finished or under way. Anyway, here goes...

*******PRESS RELEASE*******

In September of 2009, Team Kouro (a performance/stunt team started in early 2008 by Rustic Bodomov) launched a new branch called Kouro Media. This is a very important development in the entertainment industry for this part of Scotland. Based in Dundee, Team Kouro consists of a group of free-runners, traceurs (practitioners of the new French urban sport known as Parkour), Martial Artists, Trickers (people who practice for extreme martial arts displays), and stunt-men and women. The team also includes several videographers, graphics designers, and is hoping in the near future to sign on a couple of music artists for their film/video productions. The stunt team has members in several points throughout the UK, but also reaches to several countries such as the USA and Australia.

Right now, Kouro Media is in pre-production for a couple of films they will produce this Spring and Summer, and team Kouro is training up and organizing future roles in the UK's film and music video industries. You can find out more about Team Kouro and Kouro Media on their forum, which is located at: http://kouro.proboards.com/ ; and you can see some of their demonstrations/showreels at: http://youtube.com/KouroMedia and http://youtube.com/TeamKouro

Team Kouro is also organizing to teach classes, and will be available for sports performances and for various events in the near future.

What do you guys think of this?? We need to get crackin' on some showreels and samplers!!
Let me know what you think, guys!!

ps
we will be organizing a photoshoot for everyone who is part of the team, and is involved with Kouro Media and Team Kouro! This means everyone who was at the jam...basically every traceur/tricker (who's at least decent) in Scotland...try and not make a huge hype about it, but let people know that if they've never met me before, they should email kouromedia@gmail.com first with a sample of either their stunt-work (parkour etc) or if not that, then music/graphics etc..

The Dash Vault - personal tips

Hey guys,

Last thursday noone showed up for training as it was raining, so I decided to train by myself for a bit. I went to a wall to practice some vaults. After about half an hour of video-ing myself doing different vaults, I tried a dash vault. Now, I haven't really trained these much recently as a result of some conversations I had about the "useless-ness" of it in a realy situation.

Anyway, getting to the point. I found a way to do the dash vault much better and faster than I used to teach it. I have video of it, but I'll put it up in a few days. Basically, (as some of you know) wghen I used to teach the dash vault, I used to say spread your legs while you''re in the air, vertically, and kick out, landing one foot at a time. The problem with this usually was that you'd still land with both feet at the same time but without front-wards momentum, effectively stopping or slowing down your run.

The "new" way I found to do it (this might just be a personal discovery also), was that when you do the dash vault, you should still spread your legs, but only for a tiny bit. (maybe like a foot's distance between your feet) You should still land with your legs one at a time, but if you do it this way, it lets you concentrate on carrying your weight forwards instead of up and then down. The 'new' motion also makes you feel like a tensed spring, and when you land, you land much faster and can keep running. In my opinion, as long as the obstacle is just like a "normal" sized wall, the landings are better after the dash vault, then after a kong or even a speed vault. I will definitelyuse this one more in the future.

But once again, this might just be a mixture of personal preference, and just a move that suits my body type/weight etc.

Hope you found this little article useful, and a video will follow in a couple of days! It will be on: http://youtube.com/kellock71
