Ice Training in Tayport

Yesterday, on Dec 28th, I took a trip over to Tayport to do some winter training. This was an event I organized two weeks in advance, but sadly not many were able to make it, and the day progressed with only me, Ross, and Cameron (of the Street Devils) training.

The day started at 12pm. I took a bus over from the Dundee Bus station. This was my first time to tayport, so after asking for directions for when to get off a couple of times) I finally made it. Upon arrival, Cameron and Ross's mom very generously fed us all with soup and hot food, before we went "out on the town".

The training started with a nice set of parallel rails, close to their house, after which we went down to the primary school, where we found some amazing precisions and cat leaps. Here we spent about an hour and a half, training to the soudn of Jedi mind Tricks (they've got some amazing music!) We foudn several interesting combos, and Cameron and I spent about half an hour perfecting a short "run" between another two sets of rails.

From here, we went (and slid) over to a pond near "the common", which ended up being completely frozen over. Here we spent about an hour, testing how far we could get out onto the ice without it breaking, and I'm very happy to say that all of us survived without falling in to a very cold and wet fate..

Then we slid on over to check out an adult-sized (I think?) playground, where Cameron showed me the incredible potential of the place..had it been warmer, I would have gotten some great footage there!

As it sadly grew darker and colder, like it does around 3:30 these days, we went back to their house, where we spent another half an hour practicing muscle-ups and filming random things.

I'm very pleased with the way that the day went, and I definitely want to train in Tayport again sometime! Also, training in the cold and ice isn't as bad as it sounds, I feel it actually made me more aware of my body, and the cold temperature is actually quite invigorating, and keeps you awake! :D I only wish it wasn't soooo slidy..

Dundee Parkour updates and some Kouro Media news!

Hey everyone!

Just to let you know, we will be resuming our "classes" as we had them last year, starting straight after re-freshers week! We will be at the re-fresher's fair, getting students to sign up to our "club" (as they call it) after which we will have several beginner sessions, followed by several jams!

At the moment, I hope everyone is training! Don't forget to do some sit-ups after the feasting of the past 2 days! ;) And on behalf of DUPK I would like to wish all of you a VERY Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!!!

I really hope this year will bring us some good weather and opportunities, so we can seize the moment and train the hell out of this year!

In other news, Kouro Media (a media endeavour I've started has just launched a new series called "Assassination for Dummies". It is broken down into lessons, which are voiced by our very own Andrew (ask)! So please take the time to watch, and help support our new media production branch!! And I think you will enjoy them, too! :D
